Blogging can be a fun and exciting way to learn more about the things that you are passionate about (like food and travel!) and share your knowledge with others. Starting a blog allows you to carve out your own little corner of the web to collect your thoughts, ideas, recipes, travel photos, or whatever other content you are interested in.
When I moved to Macedonia several years ago, I suddenly found myself newly married, unemployed, and living with my mother-in-law (talk about a honeymoon)! In between job searches, I wasted invested plenty of hours reading about the cooking exploits of Joy the Baker and David Lebovitz (all-time favorite food blogger/cookbook author by the way). This was way before pinterest, mind you, so it wasn’t as easy as it is today to stumble upon great new recipe blogs. Soon enough, I got it in my head that starting a blog probably wasn’t that difficult. I mean, I like to cook. I have a camera… So, I got to work compiling Macedonian recipes and My Macedonian Kitchen was born. I quickly found out that (while still not difficult) there was a little more to starting a blog than coming up with an idea.
When I moved on from Macedonia, I dabbled in blogging from time to time, but lost my focus somewhere along the way. Finally, I sat down, did a bit of research, and explored what type of blog I actually wanted. (Meet the wandering fig.)
